MG MGA - Rear axle seal leaks
My stinkin' MGA back axle is still leaking after much fiddling with gaskets, seals, silicon, etc.... Still leaks. Any tricks to making the seals, gaskets bulletproof? Car was being used on race track and the leaks were resulting from heavy cornering around right handers mostly. |

Remedy depends on where the leak is. The rotating seal or the flange gasket ? Both wheels or one ? |

I had this problem years ago on a twin cam. It turned out to be bent axle shafts, which I think came that way from the factory perhaps during heat treating. Fortunately had access to a Tinius-Olsen tensile machine so straightening was not difficult. Requires several inches deflection to gain a set. Good luck with yours. Henry |
