MG MGA - Reassembly

Well, the body is all sprayed and I'm getting towards reassembly.
Trouble is, I've forgotten how the various lines are supported under the body, that is brake, fuel, harness and battery cable. I removed the old clips from the frame when restoring it, so there are none. I can always weld something back, but prefer not to. Does anyone have a cross section dwg showing the positions of these items? Can the P clips be attached to the floor rails or the floors themselves? I see in Princess Auto some nice P clips, various sizes with rubber bushings. Searched Barney's site already.

Art, I was missing some brackets as well so I made some of the L clips and U clips described in Todd Clarkes Technical Guide and screwed them to the floorboard rails with csk brass screws. I used Todd's double loop clips to attach to these. See the pictures I took at the time......................Mike

I've duplicated one of the photos. This should be number 2

Sorry this should have been the first picture.

Thats great m.j.
So, L clips go down and the P clips go up?
Which order is it, from outside to in, brake, fuel, harness, batt cable?
My floorboards are in and caulked, so I'll just drill all the way through board & rail.

Todd Clarke (CSR) sells excellent P-clip reproductions.

Here is a closer up picture. For the metal pipes, teh bracket starts out as a squared off "U" shape welded to underside of the floor support rail. The bare ends are bent around the pipes to hold them in place. The fatter fuel pipe goes outboard next to the tubular frame rail, brake pipe inboard.

This picture is a little misleading. Both pipes are originally steel pipes. Do not use copper pipes, as copper is subject to cracking with vibration. Modern replacement brake pipes may be cupro-nickle (steel), which has sort of copper appearance, but is easy enough to tell from copper when side by side.

The cables are held by double wide P-clips with the wiring harness outboard and the battery cable inboard. These clips are screwed to an "L" bracket that is welded to underside of the floor support rail and hanging straight down with a hole near the bottom end. The double wide P-clip stands straight up to position the cables high up against the floor, tucked well up in thd chassis for best protection.

The P-clips in this picture are not correct. Original P-clips have a bell shape flare on the outer edges to prevent chafing on the cables.
