not timing should be time lol

Not seen that one. I based my car on MGA 5 (or 5 MGA) that Bob West was rebuilding in 1997. That car went on to win the concours event at the MGCC event at Silverstone in, I think it was 1998.

Hi,
I've just looked on Auto Trader. It shows it to be a white sports (doesn't say whether coupe or roadster).

In the U.S. having the Registration “1 MGA” or “MGA 1” is not such a big deal. With 50 states, and each state being able to issue either plate, 100 people could be driving around with a plate that might fetch a quid or two in the U.K.

David Werblow

Hi David over here only one of that number can exist and it would be worth many thousands of pounds, until we officialy become the 51 st state that is lol

Gordon, I think this presents an entire new opportunity for you to corner the market on British "MGA" registrations.

Don't let him go down that path. We could get inundated with personalised GCP (Gordon C Pugh) number plates. Some alternative meanings also come to mind:

Genuine Classic Parts
Good Combustion Practices
Good Cinical Practice

Well now who do I start with first, actualy guys situation changed again MGA coupe arrived this week not quite as I had hoped, I know should have gone to look first, basicaly very sound lovely chassis, drives really well but on having it checked underneath find that the bottom of the front wings are bolted into thin air as lower part of inner wing/sill are not present , paintwork is a bit worse than I thought lots of crazy paving all over I didn't realise quite so bad, so hence beyond my budget to fix after paying over £8K for the car, inside is lovely, so have decided to cut loses at this stage losing about £2000 and exchange for an MGB yes an MGB I know , I will also be having plastic surgery, the B is part way through a body rebuild and will be a very nice , rust free car to enjoy the summer with, I still would like an A but will wait until can afford the best , like in 2208 lol will still lurk on this board if allowed, now did the B have a tool kit , I wonder........

You have proved the old addage: "Don't buy from photographs", certainly if you are buying a ready for the road car.

However, I did buy from photos. But I was looking for a total rebuild project. That said, if I was going down the same route again I would definately look at the car first. I reckon I could have saved several thousand pounds, even on a total rebuild project.
