MG MGA - Restoration shop for sill work, Massachusetts

I am looking for a reference to a body shop/restoration shop in the Massachusetts area to finish the inner sill work on my wife's MGA. Long story short, at the recommendation of a regional club colleague, I dropped off the car in October 2012 at a shop to have the sills repaired. I have time and space for smaller projects, but did not want to risk having the car out of commission for a season by taking on the project myself...So much for that! The car is still not even halfway done, and I am not confident that this shop will finish the job in a quality way once I complain about the blown timeline.

Are there shops in the NE that you have had good experience with?

Thanks, in advance, for your help getting this car back on the road this season.

Hi Rick

You should give Pete Bachand of Kustom & Restoration Specialtics a call. (508) 281-6171. He is in Marlborough and has a vast working knowledge of these cars.

He has done some work for me and I would highly recommend him.

Thanks, Jeff...

I'll look up Pete B. I work in Hopkinton, so a swing by his business should be pretty easy.

I'll post an update later in the week

@ Jeff...

Hey, Jeff...I talked with Pete. Sounds like exactly what I was looking for. In this case, I may have to pull the car from the current shop and drive it for the season half finished, then schedule something with Pete next Fall. I want to see his shop, too...since I work in Hopk, it isn't too far from me. He speaks very highly of you, and I appreciate your recommendation. Hopefully, between this current shop and Pete's place, I can get this 'simple' sill project done in 2013.

Cheers,

Rick

Hi Rick

No problem, my frame and shell should be up to Pete soon. Let me know if you have any other questions. There are a few of us A guys here in eastern MA.

Jeff Allen

I'm in eastern MA,and I've never heard of Pete! I may give him a call as well...

Update...I picked up my MG from the previous body shop. The job is incomplete. The drivers side replacement panels are tacked in place, but not final welded. The door alignment at the bottom rear corner is 'out' 3/8"...too much for my tastes. I know these cars are not perfect, but this is over the line. At least it is drivable.

I have contacted Pete to get an evaluation of the scope of the job to finish this project. I am planning on taking a stack of pictures next week, and followup with taking the car in person.
