MG MGA - Seat belt mounting

Hi,
I have recently bought a MGA Coupe. It does not have a drivers seat belt. I would like to fit an old 3 point racing seat belt. The two lower mounts will be the same as the normal belts. My question is where to locate the central rear strap. Any ideas?

Thanks

Do you have a photo of the belt you wish to fit - not sure what a 3 point racing harness looks like - is it same as lap sash - most racing harnesses are 4, 5 or 6 point?

Mike, I would assume it is something like this. Quite common in the UK.

Hi, Thanks for posting the picture. Thats it. "Y" shaped. The short arms of the Y should use the normal lap strap bolts either side of the seat. The long tail of the Y is the problem . Any ideas?

Thanks

I cannot see any options other than welding purpose made brackets.

You should be able to fabricate a mount similar to the 1600 MkII roadsters under the rear panel. Same design perhaps, but centralised with the seat.

Thanks Neil, these type of belts are more suited to 4 door cars as I doubt you will have enough depth behind the set for this type of belt. I use a 4 point Schroth Rallye in my coupe that attach to the tonneau panel just behind the diaphragm separating the boot. There is a reinforcing box section under this panel.
