MG MGA - Seats

As some ar*ewipe dumped their cigarette end on my drivers seat and burned a big hole in the 50-year old covers (that were otherwise perfect) I am now looking at the options to fix it.

If I can find a piece of red vinyl the same colour, I can have an upholsterer replace the two affected strips. Any offers for material? Anyone stripped an orignal set of seats and put in a new set - the rear of teh seat back would be perfect as a source for the material I need.

Otherwise I have two miata/mx5 seats that I may recover with a red vinyl kit, fitting headset speakers and heated seats for complete decadence - I have ones with removable headrests, so the tonneau could still be used.

Still mulling the options - would really like to keep the original seats.

In the States the auto stores sell a vinyl repair kit from Permatex that works quite well. Their kit number is S.I.N.: 834-300. I've used it and was quite pleased with the results.

sorry, its from a Coupe so you will have to cut it.

The Miata seats won't work as well in a roadster- the rear deck prevents them from reclining far enough to be comfortable. If you'd like I can show you pictures of how far they recline in my Coupe in normal operating position and you can compare that to where they'd end up in your car.
