MG MGA - Shelley Jack Handles

I have now added a jack handle paragraph (plus photos where I have them) to my Shelley Jack database. I have the data for the LJ225 which was supplied with the later MGA vehicles. What I do not have are the measurements and a photo for the LJ23 handle which was supplied with early 1500s. Can anyone help me out please?

For those of you who have fleets of old cars could you also scan through the database to help me fill in other blanks.

Congratulations Steve,

This has grown into a valuable and fascinating resource!

How does it feel to be recognised now as the global authority on Shelley jacks? Keeping record of prices has created a value guide and I believe even a stability to values!

Does the site generate a lot of mail, information or questions?

And finally, how is your own collection?

I get about 5 emails a week from various corners of the globe. Other than the obvious countries common to this forum I have had contact from the Philippines, India, Singapore, Denmark, Norway, China and Japan.

Many think I am a dealer and want to buy a jack. More recently I have had a lot of questions about the jack handles, hence this thread.

I only started the database after banter from some of you guys when I was gathering data on the MGA jacks. At that time I was not even aware of Barney's site. How times have moved on.

Not heard anything. Surely there is someone out there with a picture and details of the LJ23 handle.

Have you thought of contacting the LeMay museum in Tacoma, Washington? As co-stewards (along with the LeMay family) of the largest car collection in the world, they may have the largest jack collection as well.

No, I had not thought of that. Good call. I will also contact our own Beaulieu Motor Museum.

Many thanks

Steve, I live right outside Tacoma, so if you need someone to go there physically to do some research on your behalf, just let me know. Harold LeMay is a legendary local figure here. He made millions doing a job nobody wanted, hauling garbage, and put his fortune to good use for the benefit of all auto enthusiasts. If you're ever in the area, I'll take you to his family's open house. It's amazing.
