I would say too lean on the carbs. Should be a slight tan color.

As George says and/or timing out? Steve

I have found that with the current unleaded fuel in Australia that spark plug and exhaust pipe colour are unreliable indicators of fuel mixture. I always use a wide band Lambda sensor to analyse the exhaust gas. MIck

Phil, Definitely too weak, plus our cars need to run richer on today's ethanol fuels too, to avoid overheating. Regards Colin

Hi - thanks for the comments. What effect could the timing have on the spark plug colour? If it was too far advanced could this be the cause? Phil

Burning too lean. Could burn a valve or worse. Needs to be a light tan or brownish color. Black is too rich = sooty deposits Cheers Gary 79 MGB

Definitely lean.
