Not yet. There are power outages and internet connection problems all over Japan right now. Perhaps we need a little more patience. With developments in the past day or two I wouldn't be surprised if his company is trying to bring him back to the states right about now (just speculation).

I spoke to Tom when I was in Japan last May - he lives south of Tokyo city about 30 kms and works for US Embassy so should be okay.
