MG MGA - Turn switch
My Moss signal switch finally failed. OK on LH turn, got less and less time on RH until it would not signal at all. Dismantled same and try as I might with its bits and the bits of my old original Lucas (most of which were not interchangeable) I finally took out the piston and spring, got to equalize the springs in the switch part and reassembled. So now its just on/off with manual return. I think there was just too much torque involved in loading the piston and the switch was just not made that robust. Anyway, car is back on the road!

Art I could never get on with the indicator switch. I took it out soon after I bought the car ten years ago and replaced it with a two way toggle switch. I subsequently fitted a small audible warning "beeper" as I kept forgetting to turn the indicator off. Not original but I prefer it, and can always replace the original switch easily enough

If you have all of the parts of your original switch, they are fairly easy to repair. I have about 20 seconds delay on my original switch and I’ve repaired several others using the instructions on Barney’s website. Jim

Jim, the thread on the panel mount has stripped on the original

I might have one if you’re interested. Jim

Thanks Jim, but I am happy now with the non-expiring switch. These days with traffic speeds you need to signal well before the corner! Art
