MG MGA - Who's going to NAMGAR GT35?

Wondering if I might see anyone from this forumn in Wisconsin at the end of the month.
Andy Bounsall

I'm scheduled to present the "Bumper to Bumper Hydraulics" tech session Tuesday afternoon, so I'll be there (at least on Tuesday). Hard to miss this one when it's only two hours from home.

I'm driving my MGA from North Carolina to Wisconsin for GT-35.

We'll be there mais sans MGA, unfortunately. Making up for it by planning to have two in Reno next year.

Does anyone know why they hold it during the week? I would be more willing to attend if it was held say Thursday, Friday,Saturday. Real hard to get a week off in prime summer vacation time for me and I'm sure others too. Easier to swing a couple of days off and combine with a weekend.

Gary, I've been on the fence too about registering. I've been working a lot on my Locost and the MGA has taken a back seat for a while. The GT is so close to home, it would be a shame to miss it. I'll probably register today or tomorrow. I plan on driving up on Tues for the show and Thurs for the seminars.

I think the NAMGAR organizers do this to allow for the long distance travelers to travel too and from the gathering on the weekends making it only one week off work for them. It doesn't really help the short distance drivers or the sponsoring club.

Take a couple of days off like you said and go up for at least part of the meet. I'd be glad to see you there. If you do go and our schedules align, want to meet up on the road?

Planning to drive from New York to GT35 with my 59 roadster. Was hoping to get a caravan but no takers, so a friend is going to follow me in one of my "regular" cars. Maybe I'll see some of you there.
Cheers,

Gerry, where in NY are you?
Andy Bounsall

I'll be heading in from North of Detroit, Mi on Sunday. I'll stay at my brother's north of Chicago. And Monday he and I will take the short drive in to join the group.
Michael Moder

Andy,
I'm near Binghamton NY, about 70 miles south of Syracuse.

Gerry, I'm in Ottawa. I was just curious about your proximity to the Canada/US border. I'll be taking a route accross southern Ontario with another car from Ottawa. See you in Delavan.
Andy Bounsall

Gary,
Chuck is spot on re days chosen for the event. There will be some who have driven their MG's (A's and Magnettes) across the country, and have made the GT their summer holiday, or are retired. Take a look at the NAMGAR web site where there is a link to the Mazurek GT site - they have been to all 34 GT's to date.
A GT is at least 4 days long. If you want to go to a shorter event, look out for the NAMGAR Regional events, which are usually over a long weekend.
Peter.

I will be towing a Magnette from NY. See you there!
