I just purchased a set of 3.07 gears (supposedly off original Rover tooling) that I want to put into my existing mgb rear end. The current rear end is on my sebring gt with a 4.3L V6, and I'm running a 3 speed automatic with 1:1 on the final drive. This makes highway/interstate drivng a 3500 rpm event..traumatic to say the least. I understand that about 215 thousands have to be machined off the carrier in order to make the 3.07 crown wheel and pinion fit. After researching past V8 bbs threads it seems to be understood that having this job done by an experienced and competant differential guy is amlmost a must to prevent the rear end from being noisy. My question is, does anyone know of anybody/shop that has succesfully done this before? Particularly in the Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus, Ohio or Indianapolis area? Or anyplace for that matter?

Mike, check your Yellow Pages for any Dana/Spicer dealer or a driveline specialist. You should have a couple in any big city. They should also be able to shorten and re-spline axles for you if needed.
The carrier machine work could be done at any competent machine shop.

Thanks Jeff....I'll follow up on your recomendation.I'm still looking for information from someone with first hand, or second hand information of anybody/shop that has succesfully done this specific job before? Particularly in the Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus, Ohio or Indianapolis area? Or, as I mentioned before any location...
Thanks!

Hello Mike:

You might try Moser Engineering in Portland IN. They specialize in axle work.

Mike-

I used Babbitt Bearing in Columbus to set up my 3.07. They were a bit slow, but seem to be competent. Jim Fisher (V8 owner in Columbus) also used them for his differential.

Ozzie - good hearing from you and thanks for the tip!

Scott- please contact me by email off forum, as I need to get a couple of details from you.

Does anyone know if the 3.07 will work in the early Banjo type axle? Mine is a 63 with wire wheels.

If you have done this swap, how hard was it??
