MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Aussie P76 and 5 speed for sale (cheap!!)

Anyone on east coast thinking about a V8 conversion might be interested in this one (not mine and don't know the guy- its in the trading Post on line). Forget the Pegeot its in but a 4.4litre P76 fitted up to a 5 speed Toyota Supra box all for $1000 Aust (about $500 US) must be good buying! Advert reads:

"PEUGOT 504 1981 Peugot 504, damage to rear V8 conversion P76, Supre 5spd, new interior, Vr Senator diff, fully engineered regretful sale, another spare car, heaps of spares, all offers coincided. -$1000 Lennox Head (0421) 089 923"

Bargin!
P76 were essentially a stronger stroked rover motor( 4.4).
Dellos kit costs 400-500, the box at least 300 and the clutch and flywheel set up 300 and then there's the motor etc

And I thought there was a clearance problem with the leyland motor ie being too tall to fit under the standard mgb bonnet?
steve

The P76 had a slighly taller block (1/2 inch?). However I've got that at least that clearance with EFI on the Rover so it should be a real problem. Also it's likely that this coversion would have to be using a Holley to get it under the bonnet of the Peugot.
Peter

Guys dont worry about height as RV8 bonnet can take care of that, worry about width as P76 motor much wide than Rover block, trouble with exhaust manifold & down pipes, will have to do like RV8 with exhaust exiting inner guards; saw few p76 motors put in Bs many years ago , now people put in Rover 4 & 4.6 litres as more available & stronger motor.I have factory MGBGTV8 & P76 so have done a lot of comparing of LEY/ROVER motors over the years .STEVE
