MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - British V8 2005 Track Day June 10th - Update

Good news !

I checked with Putnam Park's owner.
Roadster's with a hard top i.e fiberglass removeable top will be considered as a hard top vehicle and can run on the track without a roll bar.
Only open top cars/convertibles will require a roll bar or roll hoop.

Side note - The Track day is a Lapping day/Fun day and not a 'Racing' event. Timed laps or serious racing will not be permitted.

Cheers

Pete,

"Lapping day/fun day"

Does this mean parade laps? Or will we be allowed to let it hang out as long as we do no passing in the corners? I don't mind the 302s blowing by me down the straightaway, but I want to squeal the tires in the turns. :)
Carl Floyd

Carl...

This is a track day as per Grattan. At speed. Common sense prevails.

So.....if the event organisers (namely, Larry, Curly & Moe) found it within their means to have a hardtop available, those of us without rollbars could all get a shot on the track.
Graham Creswick

Graham,

You are correct. I am working to have at least one MGB hardtop available to be loned out for track usage.

Hardtop rental fee to Merry Canadians has yet to be discussed.

Moe

Larry, Are you taking the deposits for Moe's hardtop ? :)
Steve Carrick

Steve,

That's a good idea !!
I hadn't originally included Moe's hardtop in the loaner idea.

......but Moe's hardtop originally came from a Merry Canadian.......what goes around, comes around!

re: ......but Moe's hardtop originally came from a Merry Canadian.......what goes around, comes around!

but....it may not go around the track!

As the previous owner of said hardtop, might I suggest freeing it from the C for use on the track by applying liberal doses of lubricant (Guinness) to the owner.

I was under the impression that current owner was "easy",so wouldn't small doses work? We want him "functional" for other needs during the show

Roll beer owner (or was that bar)
Steve Carrick

OK..Cres, Whuda, and Carrick...watch it or I'm going to be compelled to report you to the watchdog for abuse. ;-)

Registration forms for the meet should be available by next week...please e-mail me if you want one e-mailed directly to you. The form(s) will also be available on the British V8 Conversion website, and we will have some with us at Wayland on saturday.

Cheers.
