MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - British V8 Newsletter

Hey all!
I suspect many of you know of this publication already, but perhaps many of you don't. My name is James Jewell, and I'm replacing Dan Masters as the publisher/editor of "The British V8 Newsletter" (formerly The MG V8 Newsletter". I have some big shoes to fill, since Dan did such a great job these past few years.
For those of you who don't know, The British V8 Newsletter is a grassroots technical and social resource for people who put bigger engines in their little British cars. We're not just V8's, despite the name, and we're open to any British car, regardless of marque, that has received a horsepower boost via an engine transplant significantly different from the B-series engines. DOHC Quad-4, I-6, V-6, V-8, V-12 and Rotary engines are all welcome. We encourage the spirit of experimentation.
We publish 3 times a year. Each issue is about 30 pages and is full of pictures, tech. articles and suppliers. $15.00 USD will get you a one-year subscription. Back issues will be available once we revamp the web-site. I'll look at overseas orders on a country-by-country basis, and we may be able to send a digital (Adobe .pdf) version to you.
Our web-site will be down for a few more weeks while we switch providers, but after that, I'll post the site domain name (most likely www.britishv8.org) and we'll have one or two free issues for people to download, as well as some other good resources.
In the interim, please write me at:
britv8news@speakeasy.net
If you have a fast enough connection, we'll see about e-mailing you an issue or two.
Also, we always need good articles. If you like to write, or even need some help but have a good project going on, contact me. I'm also looking for some folks that might want to write a regular column, such as humor, or product reviews.
Best of luck, and pardon the intrusion.

James!

Once again, congratulations and THANK YOU for stepping up to the plate to help keep this valuable source of information on V6/V8 conversion available.

It is important to know that James, who is quite knowledgable on the subject of conversions and MGs, is primarily focused at being an EDITOR for the publication.

He will need....and has already requested...input and articles from all of us...to maintain the British V8 Newsletter at the high caliber it has attained through the efforts of two of our previous editors, Kurt Schley and Dan Masters.

Let's not let him down!

Thanks again, James!

Hiya James-

Greg Fast, longtime v8 newsletter subscriber.

Don't know where I am money-wise with the newsletter- maybe can you review the membership roles and give those of us that may be going delinquent on subscription a heads up?

Thanks Dan, for a couple great years, and Kurt, for having the huevos to get the ball rolling with the BV* newsletter. Great job both of you guys.

James- you got huge shoes to fill.

Best wishes
Greg Fast

James,

It was great to meet you in Michigan and look forward to many more editions of the Newsletter.

But its going to be down to us, the readers and subscribers who will make it successful and informative.
Send in your ideas, articles and pictures to James..........

Looking forward to seeing everyone either at MG2004 in June at New Jersey or Grand Rapids for the V8 meet.

Cheers

Pete

James,

Good luck with taking over the V8 Newsletter. Thank you.

I find it fascinating reading from this side of the pond - even if some familiar words seem to have slightly different meanings to the ones I'm expecting. Please keep up the good work.

By the way, would it be possible for folk in the UK to pay their subscriptions electronically?

Regards

Peter

Gentlemen,

The Jan 2004 issue of the newsletter is finished. My apologies for being late with it. The hard copies went in the mail today, and the online version was sent to the webmaster today as well.

I was not able to convert the master copy to Adobe format - computer problem - but the webmaster should be able to, and have it online in a few days.

The newsletter is online at: http://www.britishv8.org/jan2004.pdf

To make it easy on youself, just right click on the above link, and select "save target as" to download direct to your hard drive.

It's been up for a few days now, but I just forgot to notify everyone on this BBS.
