MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - buick 300

does anyone have a buick 300 crank they want to sell? I burned up my 3.9L V8 in my Range Rover at an off roading event and want to build a strocker with a 4.0 cross bolt block I have and a 300 crank.
Thanks Evan Amaya

I have a 300 crank, that I got a year ago & will let go for $100. & it might need to be ground. I am going to be in your area, next week & can drop it off. You can call me at 302-734-1243 or send me your ph. # & I will call you. We have built a lot of 4.8 motors & can help with the info. Glenn

That's interesting. I've had a 300 crank sitting around for years but have yet to use it. Glen, what could be done with that crank and a 215 Olds block?

Jim,

It will turn it into a 266 c.i.

Have you not read the back section of your D&D catalog? ;) It has stroker info using the 300 crank. Most of it is detailed here:

Needing more torque? I didn't think so. :)

I sent you an e-mail asking if you had to move the tank to allow fitment of Jag IRS, would be grateful if you could let me know.

Odd, they must be working on the tech section. Well you see, since I have this old 300 crank, and a spare olds engine that a buddy built with low compression Buick pistons I thought I might look into it at some point. Get a little more momentum at idle that way, leave the blower drive ratio the same and effectively lower the boost slightly due to the increased displacement without losing any power which should make leakage less of an issue. Never hurts to have a replacement engine waiting in the wings, and no need to hurry on it so I can do all the pressure checks and other little details.

Now if I only had a replacement transmission laying around....

Jim,

If you got just a black web page, scroll down and the text/pictures are revealed.

Thanks Pete, that was it. I had forgotten how much was involved. I have the Chevy rods, narrowed at the big end. They've been in a box on the shelf for quite a few years. What I need to find out is if there is a piston that will work with the 300 crank, chevy rods, and Olds 2bbl heads to give a suitable CR. Ordinarily 8:1 is used for blower motors, but Olds used 10:1 with the Jetfire to get better fuel mileage and reduced the boost accordingly. I think there is some sense in that.

Yes Jim , by all means , you need more power , for those 2nd. gear smashes / airborn trips up your driveway . BTW I have access to hay bales , "CHEAP"
perhaps you could stack them in the back of your garage [ just in case ? ]

That's OK Denny, I don't go high enough to clear more than one or two of them so they'd just go to waste.
