MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - buick 3800 supercharged v6

I have been looking into doing a v6 conversion in my 73
roadster. The buick supercharged v6 has 240hp, and 280 ft/lbs. of torque. I know that some people have
converted to a buick without the supercharger, and i was wondering if the supercharger added to much weight, or took up too much space. Also, what would be the best trany to bolt up to this engine? Any other info on the swap would be greatly appreciated.
thanx.
Alan Raddatz

Can't tell you if the SC will fit (looks like it could) but the best trany is the one on the back of the engine that you get. The T5 is the only way to go if you want manual.Keep in mind that if you swap trany, the computer will not like it. Try and stick as close to stock with this kind of swap and life will be much better!

I don't think the supercharged engine comes in a rear wheel drive car. It may have the mounting holes for motor mounts and bell housing to use the transmission from a 3800 F body car which may be compatible with the ECU.

In Australia the GMH fuel injected V6 3800 is a rear wheel drive with factory supercharger and is also available with 6 speed manual..considering the favourable current exchange rate against US dollars would be interesting..

As a point of comparison, does anyone know the approximate torque figure for, say, a mildly hopped-up Rover 4.2L or 4.6L? They both seem like mighty torquey motors, as you might expect from their being strokers. If the blown Buick 6 can out-torque those little fellas, good grief Alan's is going to be one _hell_ of a fast MG. Gut-wrenchingly fast; sick fast; scare-women-and-children fast!!

Do you have a picture of this motor? From whence will it be able to gulp the gobs of air that it no doubt requires? If you can do this without a hood scoop, I will bow humbly, most impressed.

This is a great engine super trick with injection and super ignition. Have one in my Regal and it really hauls 0-60 under 6.5 and that,s in a 3500 lb + car. Imagine in a 2500 lb car. As far as ,the intake you could run a snorkel for the air just like the rice burners do. Also you can increase the boost to 11 lbs from 7 by changing the supercharger pulley very inexpensive around $300 for an extra 25-40 horsepower. Only the computer could be a real pain to hookup .
