MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Chrome bumper conversion

Hello All,
I am in the process of making my late model rubber bumper car into a chrome bumper car. However, I am not sure what exactly such a conversion entails. I know I need to replace the fenders, grill and bumpers (all of which I have recently purchased) however, from what I can tell, the rubber bumper mounts are considerably bigger (and heavier) than those of the chrome bumpers. Any tips on the actual conversion would be extremely helpful. Thanks.
Eric

Eric, look at this web page for details.

Bill,
Thanks, very helpful!

Wondered how the conversion is going assuming you checked out the site that Guzzman suggested cos it makes the job look a lot easier than it truly is if you want to do it properly.

Les, Well, due to the impending war with Iraq and the fact that I have orders to ship out next week, the chrome bumper conversion is going a tad bit slower than planned. Yes, the web site makes it look easy, and yes I expect it to be a tad bit more challenging, but then again, a MGB is challenging. I am a patient person when it comes to my MGB. Presently, I have the replacement fenders, grill, and front & rear bumper assemblies. I have already removed the old rubber bumpers and installed the replacement fenders, but that is it. I have talked with a body shop friend of mine, he seems to think he can accomplish the removal of the rubber bumper mounts for about $150 or so. I believe he is going to use a plasma cutter to cut off the extra metal. Anyways, the rest will have to wait until I return back to normal non-military life.

Thanks for all the help, I truly appreciate it.

Having been drafted in 1969 I know what you are going through. Good luck and have a safe return.
