MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Clutch -- 302/T5

Anyone familiar with either of these clutches want to comment on appropriateness for a ~350hp 302/T5 set up?

Luk Part Number = 07-042 or Valeo = 52672002

If you're not familiar with either of these, what clutch mfg/model # do you recommend?

Thanks,
Rob

If my memory serves me right --when I bought my Ram clutch pack for my 302-T5 set up it was actually manufactured by Valeo, and did some research and found they are a major manufacturer with a great reputation.I also questioned Ram about it at the time and they admitted they were a major supplier of theirs. I have over 30K on this clutch with no problems. I cant say if it is the same part #s you are quoting.

Hi Rob, Don't recognise the codes but my clutch plate and pressure plate are the standard Ford Mustang items. Not the slightest hint of problems after many hard starts. With an 800lb weight advantage and only 195 section tires, the clutch doesn't work that hard anyway. Horsepower approx as you mention. MG diff with Quaife has been fine but but wonder about the axles in moments of contrition! You will find good traction bars fairly essential! Good luck, Bob.

Rob,
When I bought the complete powertrain from a wrecked '89 Mustang, the clutch was in such good shape (after 105K Km) that I reused it "as is". So, my vote would be for original Ford components.
Add a push type clutch slave cylinder to your own fabricated bracket and you'll have a good setup.

I have a valeo clutch in mine, not problems at all..

OPne thing to rememebr, with our lighter cars we do not need the high friction, racing clutches taht the mustang guys do, an dgood quality OE replacement will fit our needs quite well.

I checked my files -the clutch I bought for my car was a Ram 88749HD which is just a heavy duty street clutch for a Mustang.
