MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Cooling Fan - single or twin?

Hello All,

I know the normal route is to use two electric fans on conversions, but there is a bit of work required wiring in relays and fabricating mouting brackets.

Has anyone replaced the twin mgb fans with a single high efficiency fan (e.g. Kenlowe) with good effect?

I ditched the twin factory fans for a single heavy duty 13inch kenlowe fan which now cools the 4.6.
So far it has never overheated but will soon upgrade to the 16inch item due to new performance mods.
The slam panel needs altering to make room.

I don't use twin mgb fan but two hight efficiency japanese fan, one manual control.
regards.

Michel,
I would really like to hear more about your set-up, that looks beautifull, and very professional!! It looks liek the Rad mounts to the stock locations?? what Rad is that?

The fan bracket looks handcrafted, what do the legs going down out of site connect to??

Those SAMCO hoses are AWESOME! Rad hose like that could lt someoen put almost any readiator into a car without problems. Can you give us any info on those??

Mark - performance mods to a 4.6 ! What are you trying to do - win the X Prize for the first amatuer in space!

I can't wait to start driving my standard non-rebuilt 165k miles 3.5!

Sorry for my vocabulary,
I built this car for my pleasure, for track day particularly, I built the water radiator also, I bought the core to Pace Product in England, they build beautiful radiators, it's their job, the welding it's not by me, I use the OE radiators side panels,
The fans are two brackets one below and one above, below I use the nuts for secure the oil radiator, my oil radiator is not here
I bought the Samco silicon hose to Demon Tweeks in England, sorry Wales, a huge range.

Michel,

Did you mean your oil radiator in not visible in the photo, or that you do not have one at all?

Your engine bay is a work of art - have I said that before?

I really should get some photos of my build up somewhere.

Thank you.
The oil radiator is underneath water radiator.
I would like to look at your photos

It looks like you have your oil cooler mounted to the cross member by some custom brackets rather than hanging from the radiator support panel - is that correct?
Liam

Yes, that's right. I built also an airdam between the front valance and the water radiator. I don't have any problems with the cooling.
