MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - EFI Plenum Chmber heating

1995 4.2L Rover engine
Hot wire EFI
Earlier buick timing cover and water pump

There is a water outlet about half way down the left side of the inlet manifold that supplies heating water to the Plenum chamber. On a Rover the return is then fed back into the radiator.
Can this return pipe be connected to the thermostat bypass connection on the back of the water pump/timing cover and successfully act as the main thermostat bypass water circuit?

Tony, What I do with the 5/15 nip. on the drivers side on the man. is pull the tube out & drill it to were you can tap to 1/8 inch pipe & put a 45 deg. with a rad. pet cock to were you can blead the air out of the man.. On the 5 cars I have done I have taken the plem. heater out of all of them. I cut .800 tho. off the bottom of the trumpet stack & push the fule rail down ( 6" x 1/2 ext. & a big hammer) on the 4 foot pads were the rail bolts to the intake & I have a set of motor mts. that I make were I can get the motor as low as I can get it were the hood closes with no scoop. Are you going to rebuild the motor?
Glenn Towery

The long term plan is to rebuild the motor with your high(er) compression pistons etc, but thatis still way down the road. Glen, what do you do for the thermostat bypass, do you use the original pipe that goes from the bottom of the manifold directly to the back of the pump. The reason I ask is that I am struggling with where to fit the "dual oil/water gauge" water sender as it is too big to fit into the standard rover sender position next to the EFI water coolant sensor. This started me thinking about using the plenum chamber heater as the bypass circuit and using the original bypass outlet on the manifold for the temp gauge sender.

Tony, make like as easy as you can! You need to find the piece on a 1275 M.G.M. that the water temp. send end, screws into that screws into the head & your job is done!!!
Glenn Towery

Glen, what's an 1275 MGM, MG metro? Can you supply the part? Where does it screw into on the head?
Tony Bates

Is it the adapter part # 361-065 (Moss), the temp gauge adapter for the 1275 Midget? Where will it fit on the Rover manifold?

Tony, M.G.Midget & temp. adp. will go in the ft. of the intake were the temp. trans. use to sit, not the head. sorry
Glenn Towere

Got it, thanks
