MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - factory V8 part

hey, im using a factory inducion set up and am curious about the heater valve set up. was there some extension that pushed the valve back from under the carbs? anyone have the length of this part? mine didnt come with one, and the standard adapter wont work, the valve will hit the floatbowls on the carbs. thanks for the help
jake

Not been down that far on my own but there does appear to be a 'heater outlet pipe' BHH 1065 between the back of the inlet manifold and the heater valve. It puts the valve immediately behind the air box, the holes in the manifold flange are in a different position to the valve flange, looks like the latter are vertically in line.

paul,
in the factory v8 supplement shop manual it shows it, i guess ill have to fabricate one, i have a rover outlet i can use at a manifold pattern and an MGB heater valve i can use for the other side, i just need to know the length so it doesnt hit the heater. thanks.

Jake,

Please check you E-mail description so i can send you a picture.
I bought this part with the V8 conversion compagny. At the moment i am doing my body work so the engine is out and i can make a picture and measure the length if you want.
I have a roadster.

peter,
id love a pic of this part. if you can measure the distance between the inside of the flanges, as well as the total length, it would help greatly. pictures can be sent to either britishauto@hotmail.com or jmv@et.byu.edu thanks for the help

Jake,

I have the same set up as you and had to make the exact part you need. Unfortunately I have just put the plenum chamber and carburettors back on or I could have photographed the part.

It is almost 2" long and places the outlet which is alongside the control cable horizontal and fairly easy to connect to the right side heater matrix outlet.

A tip: Insulate this heater hose because it runs almost directly under the right side carburettor bowl. When I had the car dynoed the mechanic had a temperature sensing device and this carburettor was hotter than the left one caused by its proximity to the heater hose. I have now done this and all seems fine. I also fitted a fuel return pipe to the tank to recirculate and help keep under bonnet fuel temperatures down.

If you email me I will send a picture of my engine bay.

cheers
