MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Hope I didn't need this!

When I got the SD1 V8 I disposed of the metal bypass (?) water pipe which runs under the length of old inlet manifold - it was a bit manky anyway - I assumed that my new Edelbrock Dual Port manifold would have that function that built in.

Now I'm not so sure - should I have kept it and ran it under the new inlet manifold?

Liam

Are you talking about the one that runs from the small fitting on the water pump to the MGB heater? If so, I just used a new length of rubber heater hose and ran it along the valve cover.

Under the manifold may appear a bit neater but mine is okay.

I just used a long heater hose that seemed about right, selected from the vaste array at the local auto shop. Mines out of a Range Rover though.
A bit of copper pipe will also do nicely. If you are talking about the type of manifold where the pipe bolts under and toward the front of the manifold, the threads are all household plumbing water pipe type, as far as I know.
Peter

You can get 15mm stainless in plumbers merchants, bends with a 15mm copper bender and polishes up fantastic!

Thanks for the reassurance chaps, much appreciated. I had a length of heater hose which came with the manifold - that must be what it is for.
Liam

Liam,
I presume you are using a JWR Offenhauser dual port inlet manifold. If you flip it upside down, you will notice an indentation in the casting. Itīs there for the simple reason of you routing the rubber bypass hose in it, which Simon spoke about.

Good luck

Thanks Erik - I spotted it and wondered if that was what it was for.
