MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Hoping for a full recovery

I just got news that Kurt Schley had a heart attack a couple weeks back, I'm actually quite surprised that I hadn't heard and then only by chance. Does anyone know how he's getting along?

Kurt has some health issues going on...but is on the road to recovery. He has delegated some of the planning/organizational tasks for British V8 2007 to some other very capable enthusiasts to handle during his recovery stage.

We should all keep Kurt and Sue in our thoughts.

great to hear Kurt is recovering and hope he recovers fully! Kurt was instrumental im converting me to V8 ranks. met him at J. Twist's in mid 90's. Get well soon

I just got an e-mail from Kurt this afternoon. He is doing well, but he is facing heart surgery sometime in April. Kurt doesn't like to air his troubles, he'd rather keep quiet about them, but now that the word is out, we might all take time to wish him well.

A few of us went up to Ohio at the end of January to visit with him and to see how he's doing, and he looked pretty good then, but it was obvious that he's worried about his future. Regardless of the prognosis, heart surgery is scary.

In his e-mail today, Kurt mentined that he had just finished laying some ceramic tile, putting in a glass block window and a garage door, and is planning to rewire his dad's garage next weekend, so he's going strong for now anyway.

He's still working hard on plans for the 2007 meet, but I and a few others have volunteered to take as much load of him as we can, both in preparing for the meet and covering things after the meet starts.

Speaking of which, have you gotten your entry form in yet? You can get details on the meet at http://www.britishv8.org/British-V8-Meetings.htm

Kurt, Amy Sue and I are hoping you have a complete and speedy recovery.

Hi Guys,
Thank you for all the well wishes!! The problem was two strokes, in November and in January. The first deprived me of speech for a period. (It is NOT contageous, so don't ask me to kiss your wives at the Meet!)The second created some sight issues. (I could date ugly girls and would not know the difference. That vastly increases the chance of scoring!) 90% of the symptoms have since healed up. In April, the doctors are taking out my 3 year old, barely paid for titanium mitral valve (watch E-Bay!!!)and replacing it with a pig valve. (Like taking my Snap-On ratchet and replacing with a Harbor Freight special-of-the-week tool.) I should be fully functional by July and look forward to seeing you at the Meet. Thanks to Dan Masters, Steve carrick, Ted Lathrop and Roger Moor for visiting and assuming some of the Meet tasks and acting as back-up. The meet is coming along very well and will be a great one.
Best Regards,
Kurt

I see it didn't affect your sense of humor... Personally I think you're too young to be having those issues, and then you go and take on a stressful thing like organizing the meet. I dunno Kurt, good thing those guys can take some of the load off.

Well, all I can recommend is to pay close attention to stress and to what causes it and avoid those things like the plague. Been 25 years since I had a bout of chest and shoulder pain that sort of woke me up, no more since then. Maybe there's a lot I haven't got done with that approach but at least I'm still around. Hope you stick around a good long time also. Let me just say this and I'll butt out. If it's the job, then the job has to change. You'll be no good to them six feet under, they need to recognize that. If they won't do it willingly then you really don't need them.
