MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Insurance

I can't believe it, but Hagerty turned me down. Said I had too many modifications!! I think I guessed wrong on the mileage figures and I'll go another round with them, but anyone have another suggestion?

I am to young to qualify for most classic insurance so I have my insurance through Progressive combined with my everyday driver. Insurance is high for me ($173 for both cars a month), but it was better than nothing. I don't mean any harm by this next comment, but if you are old enough to qualify for insurance through Hagerty you would probably get a much lower rate than I would.

Hagerty is one of the companies I write for. They don't like mileage at all. That and racing are the primary concerns. The only modification I know of that'll keep you out of their policy is laughing gas. What did you tell them your expected mileage was? I normally shoot for around 2500 miles a year and they've never balked. It is for that reason that I still have my V8 insured by my primary company (It's in good hands) ;) I'm easily going to break 2500 miles a year. Hell I've done 1500 in 3 weeks, V8 meet included.

I have haggerty as well. They know I have a V8, they balked at my initial mileage as I wanted 5Kplus Then we sat down and I told them I go to allot of meets all over state which is true. can't remember the mileage we settled on, but the gentleman was very helpfull and they do not check it that I have ever heard of,unless that is you make a claim, then they might verify..

I sent 'em a email response. Problem was, I figured they had a computerized deal for figuring rates and plugged in some high numbers just to see what it'd do. Whadya know, sudden death! So I had to explain that, and explain that it's not a race car (look ma, no roll cage!) and explain that it's slower than any decent 70's muscle car, I don't have a racing license, etc, etc. We'll see what they have to say on Monday.

Try DeMarey Insurance. I looked all around for coverage for my 67 V8 and (73 stock) and settled on them as there rates were good and they have no mileage restriction. There main restrictions are that you cannot use the car for commuting or for errands but only for going to club meets, shows and "pleasure driving" and that no one under 25 can drive the car. <http://www.demarey.com/home.htm>

JC Taylor Classic Car Insurance, has antique and modified coverages. Limitations include mileage, garage storage and not left unattended. Never been asked to verify mileage but, then I've never had a claim.
