MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Internally drilled Princess 4pots-How?

Cheers All,
I am in the process of renovating a set of Austin Princess 4pot calipers. Sofar I have had them split and a friend of mine is turning 8 new pistons in stainless steel. While I´m at it, I came to tinker with the thought of converting them internally to one line feed. I wonder if there is someone out there that has done it and could explain the operation to me. Anyone that has oppinions against are welcome to debate aswell. Secondly, what type of paint should I use on the calipers. I would love to have them in gold, since that would look awesome behind my antracite coulored minilites.

Thanks in advance

Lucky you, they are pretty scarce.
I don't know about converting them internally; I would have had that done by someone who has done this before.
To fit them inside 14" wheels (if that's your plan) use very short bleed screws.
There is special paint for the calipers. Don't know the name anymore, sorry, but lots of shops that sell carparts have this kind of paint, of different brands.

Frank,
Thanks for the tip with 'very short bleeder screws´, because I plan to fit them inside 14" Minilites from MGOC. Do you happen to know where I should fit the external pipe work if I choose that route. I presume, that theese also might be a tight fit in the rim.
And yes, aint I lucky. I have been turning stones for a pair some time, until I scored lucky. The man I got the from, recently transported 5 Princesses to the brakers. Guess he salvaged the calipers though. He would only sell me one pair and did´nt want to part with another set to a friend of mine.

Erik,
I have the external pipework on mine. If you email me I'll send you a photo

Erik,
Yes it can be done. You don't need the extra pipework.
I have them running on two of my cars already with great success. I am also currently in the process of fitting to my GT-V8.
Once you have the two halves separated you drill a 1/8" hole just above centre and to the right in the piston cavity. You only drill the one half (per side) with the main feed lines. You will break into the side of one of the feed lines. Once complete you will now be able to blank of that feed line and run one brake hose to the caliper. I chose to put a bleed screw in the now 'spare' feed line hole to aid with getting all the air out of the system. By the way you use standard MGB caliper seals before you bolt both halfs back together. If you want pics of the drilled hole I can send you some !

Pete and Jordan,
E-mail is on the way!

Thank you both very much!
