MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Jaguar hubs?

Didn't I see a thread a while back about Jag front hubs being a bolt on replacement w/ 5 lugs? Can't seem to find it in the archives. Anyone have any more info?
Jake Voelckers

Heard, but have no onjective evidence it is true- Jag MKII sedan hubs are bolt on replacement. Also heard the to old London Taxi hubs are same.

Dave-

The problem we have on this side of the water is that most (and I've been told all) MGC's came over with wire wheels. I've seen one BV8 conversion out of washington state that had a set of disc wheel front MGC hubs, and I've seen a set of hubs advertised in the MGC section (about 6 months ago, seller wanted- IIRC- $900USD.)

Other issue is the C rotor is different diameter and thickness, so now you need to adopt the MGC swivel axles, or cut down diameter to MGB diameter and use BGTV8 calipers.

Or another option may be out there that I'm not clever enough to have thought of yet.

In any event, starting with the lack of C disc wheel hubs, this appears on the surface to be a relatively low yield option. If I'm going to spend ths kind of money asked for MGC hubs, I can go to the aftermarket and get aluminum hubs machined for big rotors and willwood caliper adapters

The chevy hubs are very heavy, rotor and hub are one piece, they need to be machine to fit (wider than the hub stub nut will not fit)will also need a 1 1/8 wheel spacer. MK II ( I have one) Hubs will fit and will need to space rotor to align with caliper (spacer between rotor and caliper) And if you find a good set of MK II hubs sell them to the jag restoration shop, hard to find here in the US.

Alloy Wilwood rotors are the same as Chevy and will need to be machine.

Reasons why we came out with hubs that are direct replacement with choice of bolt pattern.

Greg, over this side of the pond you machine down MGC discs, diameter,(easy!) and use Triumph 2000/2500 calipers which bolt on, you might have to slightly machine the back of the MGC hub for caliper clearance.I realise that these parts are not easy in the USA but then again they tell me Ebay is a wonderfull thing! Hope this might help someone.

Then are the MKII hubs the same as MGC steel wheel hubs? Can the MKII be used on MGC's without a problem?
Jake

I think someone mentioned in the past that porche hubs, possibly from the 944, fit, but my memory is a little fuzzy about that.
Anthony Morgan

Volvo, Saab, escort, and I think Mack truck all fit the MGB try spacers and shims to fit properly, some welding required, and yes prayer will help.

All of the above have been approved by Mickey Mouse.

Jake - I have a couple of MGC steel wheel hubs for the front ( you would still need to finds the rear ones ) - e-mail if you want to cut a deal.

RMW,
Thanks, Im not actually planning on swapping, just a question that I had. The C hubs are pretty scarce here but I know of a few MKII's around. Mainly it was just a question for the sake of asking, but thanks.

mike,
Piss off.
Jake

Jake, I have a 66 MKII which is need of some parts. You said that you know of a few, could you help by shaqring the location or contact. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Interesting thread. I have a Jag Mk 2 I'm parting out, so I'm also wondering how they fit either a 'C or 'B. I'd rather sell them to an MG guy than a Jag person, I like them better. Or maybe I'll keep them for my way off in the future V8 project ;) Bill, if you want to send me wish list and I'll see what I can help with.
