MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Looking for a speedometer

A friend of mine has done a V8 conversion. Now he is looking for a matching speedometer (80 mm).
Does anybody know if a speedometer with 760 revs/mile (give or take some) has ever existed? If so, has by chance some list member one in stock?
I appreciate any help.

On an MGB, I think the closest you will find is 1000 turns per mile.

I concur with Carl.

Take the car baby to a speedo shop. They should be able to get it calibrated, it all depends on if they can just swap out a gear on the cable end or if they need to split the cable and install a special ratio set-up in it..

I was quoted $40US for changing a gear out to $150 for the split cable scenerio..

Andreas,
Speedy Cables in the U.K do conversions of peedometers and rev counters. They charged me £30 UK for each in 1996. Their phone number was (London)0171 226 9228, and fax 0171 704 9542.
You will need to give them final drive details and tyre size for them to calibrate
Good luck

Try Greengauges.com. (www.greengauges.com) they provide a great service with custom made instruments (you chose the dial graphics, colours etc.) including a speedo which is electronically calibrated by setting switches inside the unit. You will need new sensors as modern gauges don't accept the old Smiths type. Having said that they are making up a special fuel gauge for me that will accept the standard Smiths tank sensor. You order on the web and I got delivery of a complete custom set within 48 hours.Highly recommended.

Thank you very much for your input. It seems that we have to a "custom conversion", so we will check out the recommendations you have made.

Thanks again, Andreas

While you're at it, get a 160mph speedo out of a V-12 Jaguar...same size, minor mods to fit dash...get it calibrated...really throws people off when they look inside & see it!! Oh, grab the tach at same time & have it calibrated also!!
