MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Rover engine help!!!!

Hey All,

No one answered my last question on water pump bolts, so here is a general question on bolts period.

Can anyone out there tell us if a 80 Rover 3.5 engine uses SAE bolts? We are sure they are not metric, but is there something else it uses???????

Thanks,

Evie

What is SAE? I thought all the bolts were UNF on steel to steel and those that bolt directly into the ally block are UNC, that is Unified Fine and Unified Course
Leslie Cole

Society of Automotive Engineers I believe, which I think is the same as UNF.

Correct about SAE. They can be UNF (fine) or UNC (course).

of course it's coarse...

Hi All, once again!

So, it looks like the engine might be using sizes like 1/4-20 and 5/16-20 as we suspected it might in some areas? (Ones currently in quesiton are for the water pump on a Rover 3.5 and there are two different sizes for sure.)

Thanks much,

Evie
