MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Space saver spare wheel

Anyone got any idea of a suitable wheel to use as a space saver for MGB? It seems quite unneccesary to me to occupy so much space out of the limited MGB boot space with a full spare wheel. Ideally I'd lke a 15" rim but narrow although a 14" would be better than nothing. Alternatively maybe an existing wheel from some car could be adapted. Appearance is not important

My perception of space saver wheels is that Murphy's Law says that if you need to use them the car will be fully loaded, and thus you will have nowhere to store the full size wheel and tyre you have removed from the car <G>

I think that you will find that a SAAB 900 (early)wheel will fit if you have 14 inch wheels, I am not sure about 15 inch wheels. It will fit quite neatly behind the passenger seat when not in use, however the wheel removed will take up more room and the passenger may be somewhat compressed! Probably OK for a relatively short period of time. I purchased mine unused from SAAB Spares in Amersham, Bucks who were very helpful.

I've got 15" wheels & use a Saab spare also....got mine from a salvage yard....actually, I picked up 6 of them just in case & have them in all my road MG's...still have a few sitting around in garage.

Toyota Celica (early to mid 80s)....its a 15"" rim but is the right height for the 14" stock MGB wheels and tires.

Check the MGB Technical thread under the same title. Includes mention of a Datsun 810 wheel that gives more room in the boot.

Here we go!!
Use a second generation RX 7 spare. They are cast alloy, very light, look good and are the same bolt pattern. I can send a JPEGE if interested.
