Adrian,

Plenty of info in the archives, search for spacesaver or space saver. In the UK try Chris at www.octarine-services.fsnet.co.uk, email chris@octarine-services.fsnet.co.uk

The early SAAB 900 wheel seems to be the one to go for; however, as it is for a front wheel drive it has a large inset. I don’t know what the tyre size or diameter is to compare it with a 165x14, 185/70x14 or 195/60x15 but someone did say not to use the SAAB wheel with an LSD, so the diameter must be considerably different. If you fit it to the front the steering will be interesting with the large inset, narrow tyre and presumably small diameter.

Our US cousins appear to have the option of a Datsun truck or van wheel but I have no idea what that might be here.

If you find a suitable space saver wheel let me know – I want one, or a can of sealer or maybe I’ll just leave one of the old Rostyles in the boot.

Adrian,

Why carry a spare when you can use Tyreweld and pump?

Try a second generation RX7 space saver. Correct bolt pattern, RWD offset. It is alloy, very light and small. Looks trick too!

Adrian,
I am in contact with a member of the Saab owners club, he is measuring a wheel for me and hopefully sending one up for me to test. he has two different wheels, what the diffeence is I dont know, hopefully I will have the answer soon

I picked up an RX-7 spare and it takes up half the space in the trunk. Could not get it to clear the front wheel hubs. Fits fine on the rear so I guess if the front tire blows I will be changing two tires.

I carry a Toyota Celica 15" space saver which fits front or rear (mid 80's I think). I had to use it last year so I know it works well.
Martyn

Martyn,
What year Celica did you get the spare from?

Do you know the tire size/diameter? I am wondering how much it thros off the car's balance?
