MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Supra Gearboxes in Australia

Hi Again,
Can anybody give me supplier recommendations for Toyota Supra gearbox conversions(complete)in Australia and the length of extension required for the gearlever hole? I hear that Dellow Automotive do them but is there anyone else? Can you give me an idea of prices as well? Thanks

Stainzy

you could try Castlemain Rod Shop

Theyre doing gearbox and crossmember conversions.
Dellow charged me 1200 for a custom bellhousing and I bought the G/box from a Japanese autowrecker for about 600.

Cheers

Stainzy, from memory, Dellow charges $395 for a bellhousing, $695 for a recon.gearbox, $65 for a fork.I don't know how much the press plate is or the other bits $ pieces. prices are Aust.$. All the gearboxes will fit, but some models are more suitable for an MGB. Barrie E

Also keep an eye out in the Brisbane 'Personal Trading Post' (also on net at http://www.trading-post.com.au) . They had a rover/toyota bell housing + 5 speed box up for sale last month for $500Aust (gone now but not unusual to see here). I bought my Toyota 5 speed + Rover engine + Dellows bellhousing this way for total of $1200Aust 1 year ago.

Stainzy,
I got my Gearbox from Dellows however I cannot remember the exact prices but what the guys have said above is about right. The gearlever extension you want is a 21 inch extension and this places the gearlever in the correct location, or as close as you can get it. When using a dellows bellow housing they are actually intended for a 5 speed conversion for a P76 and hence the plate that seals of the bottom half of the bell housing below the motor is different from a normal 3.5 Rover plate. I have not gone looking for one yet so I don't know for sure what fits. Has anyone else had experience with this?

Spriggsie, the plate that came off the Rover tx fitted my Dellow bellhousing OK.I did buy it 10 years ago though, maybe they've changed since.Barrie E

Thanks Chaps,

I will look around for a second hand box but if it all gets too hard will just buy the whole kit from Dellows. Thanks for the info on the 21 inch housing Spriggsie and, as a matter of interest, what distance do you have from the front of the crankshaft pulley to the front of the crossmember? TIA
