There was a thread a while back on either this or one of the other MGB sites regarding the show "Monster Garage". In the discussion I mentioned a new show on TLC called "Rides" (stories about custom car builders). At the time, the episode I saw appeared to be a one-off but it's now a regular feature on Tuesday nights here in Vancouver.

The point to all this is that the premiere episode on Jan. 6th featured the design and building of this Cobra. There's an encore showing of this episode on Thursday, Jan. 15th on TLC. Check it out if you can.

For what's it's worth as well, there's an new show starting in Feb. called "American Hot Rod" on Discovery Channel. Not very British but still great to watch what can be built.

Say, Justin, can you tell me more about that fuel cell -- dimensions, mounting, etc. ? Perhaps we could talk off line. Thanks! John

Justin - Your car is sharp also.

I heard today Ford is going to ask 150K for that new Cobra. I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous. If I'm going to spend that kind of cash on a car I'll take an enzo, or a modena. If you can fork 150K, a modena shouldn't be out of your class...

John: fuel cell is made by Jaz Products and measures 25 x 17 x 9. I took an aluminum bar, and bent it to fit around the cell, and bolted it through the trunk floor. I'm thinking about running a bolt through the center of the floor (going down) and hanging a spare tire under there. I like the cell though. It's 16 gallons, they have a fuel sender that works with late model B fuel gauges (or aftermarket) and it was only about 180 bucks, including aviation foam to keep fuel from sloshing around. Only odd thing is having to open the trunk to fill the tank. That seems to garner some attention.

JWK: Thanks man. I wasn't meaning to draw attention to my car, just the new Cobra, but thanks for the compliment. =)

Is this the Summit Racing fuel cell, p/n SUM-290108 (which could be made by JazProducts)? I have been toying with the idea of using this one, but making a well in the trunk floor to gain back a little truck space (and since the original fuel tank will be gone).

THat is the one reason I did not even consider a cell, trunk space. Summit has a few more economical cells, but they are also smaller size (8gal?) not really enough for taking long trips, but great for a track car heh

Hey Justin, I just put a fuel cell in my conversion but it is only a 2 gal one. Set up now to use 116-octane race fuel when I hit that NOS button. Not quite done yet, hoping by later this week but the snow storm we had last night may set me back a little for completing the road test. I'll send you some photos when it is done.

Wayne, I thought about doing the same thing -- cutting the trunk floor and mounting the fuel cell part way in, and part way out (with a metal shield below the fuel cell -- of course) but have decided not to do it. If the car gets rear ended, it could cut the fuel cell in half, and I don't like the idea of that at all.

I'll sacrifice the lost trunk space so I can further other causes with the car.

Michael: please send me pics, I'd love to see!

Hmm...I wonder how that Cobra paint job would look on my B?
