MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Traction Bars

This thread should run alongside the one on on Independant Suspension running at the moment.
Anyone any experience of going this route?
Got to get the power down somehow!

Al

I'm gonna try the British Automotive set. They look really well fabricated. I think I will have the fronts welded, rather than just bolted, into place though.

Are these the same as the ones sold by Moss?

Al

I had not seen traction bars specific to the MG, I was going to try and fab my own.. Let me know where I can get more info, PLEASE!??
Larry Embrey

These are definitely not the POSs sold by Moss. No need to bother putting Moss's wares on any halfway warmed over V8 -- they're designed for a 4-banger. BA is at www.mgbmga.com

Al,

Check out Frontline's rear traction control link (not on their site at moment but I have some details) they have a demonstrator car with 220bhp at wheels with preproduction set up.

Its developed from single seater racing and allows adjustment of roll centre.

Should now be available and I hope to try it out soon.

Very interesting. However their traction bars require composite springs and telescopic shock absorbers.

Al

Al, that is correct. They definitely won't work with the OE steel springs. You could, however, get them to work with the OE dampers if you so chose with just a minor bit of fabrication to the spring perch plates. But most people going to composite springs take the opportunity to put on a set of tube shocks anyway. (Somewhat curious, because I would not say tubes provide any noticeable improvement over OE lever dampers in good nick ... but that another discussion altogether.)
Ted

Any opinions on the Towery traction bars? I have seen them on a couple of cars, and they look really crude, almost Flintstone-like!, but I believe they are pretty effective and won't bend the car?
