MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - V8 2006 questions

A couple of questions for those that are attending:

1. I'll be picking up supplies soon for the refreshments at the meet, so I want to know what are your prefered brands of beer (no exotics, please, and respond only if you are attending, please). We'll have soft drinks and snacks available all day long, every day, and beer will be available in the evening each day, all courtesy of D & D Fabrications.

2. What time should the breakfast run to "top Of The World" start - 7:00am or 9:00am? The restaurant at the motel opens with a breakfast buffet at 7:30. We'll be having coffee, doughnuts, bagles with cream cheese, and fruit juice at the breakfast run, courtesy of Fast Cars, Inc.

Just two weeks away! If you haven't registered yet, what are you waiting for!
Dan Masters

Beer....cold

Pop/soda....cold

Breakfast run.....7:00am (even though I am NOT a morning person!)

There are no bad beers, some are just better than others.
I would prefer 9am. for the run. 7AM. is is too close to " the middle of the night" for me. I won't be bringing an MG, can I come in whatever Avis provides ?
Barrie E

"can I come in whatever Avis provides"

absolutely!
Dan Masters

kelly stevenson

In this order...MGD...9AM...;-)

Damn, no Guinness! In that case, I'm with Mike.....MGD and 9:00am, although I could be tricked into going at 8:00am.
Graham Creswick

Have Coors Light.....Will Travel

Ready for some FUN :)))))
Steve Carrick

Dan...please have some Girly-Boy beer for Carrick as per his request....the rest of us would prefer real beer.

:-)

rick

Hey, D & D and Fast Cars, Thanks for everything! ! !
Dan, Nice organization! ! ! How many are signed up now?
Put me down for 8am and "Whatever" beer! That is, except Coors Light. :-)
Regards. Jack
John Renaud

In addition to D&D and Fast Cars, Mantel Motorsports is sponsoring the river-side picnic, and Advance Auto-Wire is sponsoring the welcome party cookout on sunday.

As of today, we have 57 entries with their guests, for a total of 107 people. Less than I was hoping for.

Those that are attending, please bring extra cash so I can sell the rest of the regalia I have on hand. For some reason, t-shirts and hats are not selling well this year.

There are 77 adults taking the river boat dinner cruise, and 5 children. Should be a blast.
Dan Masters

Hey, sounds fantastic. I will bring some Canadian beer to mix into the cooler. 8-9am sounds good for the run to the top of the world. Don't want to have to get up too early, being on vacation and all.

Dan,

I have the calendar marked and have been prepping the car for the trip.
I never look a gift beer in the mouth, even one from Mr. Carrick.

Either starting time will work for me.

Bruce Wyckoff

Dan,

Bass, Boddingtons or Old Speckled Hen would be my preference. 9am for the breakfast.

Cheers

Gentlemen, I use that term loosely, I'm just trying to watch my figure, that way Barney doesn't have to work so hard to haul my fat ass around :))

Steve
Steve Carrick

Hmmm...so how does a case vs a 6 pack equal less calories? ;D

I have no problem with Coors Light, close as you can get to "Near Beer" or O'Douls yo can get. Like Steve, I'm watching my girlie figure. Got a 5 miler to run in July.
Carl Floyd

re: "Near Beer"

LOL!!!!!!! Gotta love it!

rick

rick ingram

Any time for the run, any non-light beer or ale, the darker the better, although there is nothing wrong with Corona.
Jim Stuart

Dan,cold MGD sounds good to me,9:00 "take off" Can't wait
Mike Moor

Hello , being from P.A. Im partial to Yeungling but your not gonna get that in Tenn. soooo , how bout some R & R [Rolling Rock ?? ] as far as the breakfast run goes , you guys make up your minds & I'll go providing Im not to hung over ?? D & D arent they GREAT !
denny 1

Steve, we don't call them beer guts, we call them "liquid grain storage facilities".....
Dale

No....mine's a "beer gut".

:-)

Or rather, a keg insulating a six-pack!

Git 'er done!

rick
rick ingram

Thanks, Dale
Steve Carrick

Steve, think of a beer gut as a "fuel tank for a sex machine!" Insofar as beer, with all the screwing around I have been doing with the *&^&^%$##^ car the last three weeks, ANYTHING cold and with alcohol would be more than welcome. No preference on the breakfast run time.
Kurt Schley

Kurt, sex??? whats that??? :))
Steve Carrick

Whoah, me no roomie this year!
Carl Floyd

Carl, I thought that Robin was staying with me, and the kids with you :))))

Steve
Steve Carrick

In Canada its nicely called a "Molson's Muscle "
But now I drink Diet Pepsi the result of a mis-spent youth
See you all soon in TN
Sounds like great fun !!
Gil Price

Keep dreamin', Stevie!

Gil, I buy Molson Ice, on occasion.
Carl Floyd

Dan, thanks for asking. Any beer except litle boys beer, Coors LOL
My wife drinks lite Pepsi or Coke and in some occasions a Bud lite. As for me some lemonade and what ever beer.

9 am is fine with us for the breakfast.

Again, thanks.
Bill Guzman

Carl, You have way too much time on your hands, with all the postings you've been doing. Are both of those cars ready to go ????? Is the new engine in the "B" ?? Its crunch time, lets get mov'in :)))

Steve
Steve Carrick

Steve,

No, no & no. Been spending lots o' time restoring a TF that ain't gonna make the field. :( Done nothing to mine. Still leaks oil onto the exhaust when I stand on it (guess I'm last in line for all the driving events). I have been helping my Dad get his '63 B ready, though.

You still plan on staying over on the way to Georgia, aren't ya?
Carl Floyd

I won't be able to attend the V8 Gathering this year but will be at MG 2006. If you want to get complicated with your beer try a Black and Tan.

Carl, My boss canceled my first week of vacation, due to issues at work. I'm planning on leaving either Thur. evening or Fri. morning, the earlier the better, I can't wait to get away !! :)) When are you headed to Townsend ? Barney is ready and raring to go, new seats, speedo meter, and top.

Steve
Steve Carrick

The "B" is finally running, though it gave me more problems than three ex-wifes combined.(I was tempted several times to just put a bullet through it, same as the ex's). There is still a bad miss which I will try and work out tonight. She is coming down on a trailer because I don't trust her yet. We are heading out Saturday about noon and will arrive at the Tally Ho early Sunday P.M. Really looking forward to seeing you all! Does anyone have a set of the Olds 215 OEM rubber spark plug wire holders? (The ones that slide into the metal brackets bolted to the rocker covers). They are not available commercially and almost everyone seems to have thrown them away when they rebuilt thier engines. I like them, but the rubber pieces I do have are hard as a rock.
Kurt Schley

Steve,

Robin & I are leaving for Townsend Sunday afternoon (only a 2 hour drive) after we get Mitch sent off to Boy Scout camp. Robin is just staying one night.
Carl Floyd

Kurt, I don't know if you will be able to find those, but I've been having great luck with molding silicone rubber, maybe we can cook up a plan at the meet.

I'm down to the last few wires on mine so I'll know in a few days if driving is an option. As for the beer, I'm in the same boat as Gil, regrettably, but it sure was fun while it lasted. I vote for 9:00

Rick-

Most of us know what a V8 sounds like. What does a straight 6 six sound like?
Jim Stuart

:D
Carl Floyd

I have to admit that nothing sounds finer than a straight six Austin Healey 3000!
Carl Floyd

Carl, I must disagree. I use to have a V12 Etype automatic. I would go down mainstreet in first gear and get it up to about 2000rpm and just listen to that V12 howl. Now that is something to hear!

Of course occassionally I get out my copy of The Gumball Rally and listen to the 427 Cobra and Ferrari Daytona spyder howling thru the caverns of NY city in stereo. Goose pimples!
Mwhitt

Carl,

You wait to you hear Dave's Kirkmans Blue Oval conversion on Sunday.......

Cheers

Dan, Sorry I'm so late responding. COLD DARK BEER and breakfast anytime. Or COLD DARK beer with breakfast is fine with me.
See you there,
John
