Damn! Rain Friday & Saturday!
anthony barnhill

I suppose I should dig out that nasty old top and stick it on for the weekend....
Justin

Maybe it will change. That'd make for interesting driving out on the dragon, eh?

Oh well...I needed a new application of Rain-X anyway!

Justin...Glad you're coming down...looking forward to meeting you in person....I'll have the MGC.

Well, the clutch hose split while 15 miles from home yesterday and I had to get towed home. Then while taking off the slave cylinder, (had to remove the starter) the plastic cap on the solenoid snapped in half. I took the solenoid apart, and super glued the cap back together, reinstalled all the bolts and I'm hoping and praying it works.

I'm really starting to think Murphy was an optimist.

There's a 30% chance of scattered thunderstorms - that means there's a 70% chance it won't rain.

C'mon, guys, where's your optimism?
Dan Masters

Dan! A little rain never hurt anyone!!!!!!! Besides....it's been a while since I've had the MGB/C "wet left leg syndrome"! ;-) And....I just made SURE that I have Rain-X in the boot!

Positively will be there on Wednesday!

Just a matter of a few hours - Can't wait, should be a blast, rain or shine !
See you all in Townsend with Rain-X and Sun screen !

<<There's a 30% chance of scattered thunderstorms - that means there's a 70% chance it won't rain.>>

That and the weathermen are doing well if they bat .500 in this area. Come prepared, but don't let a mere forcast alter plans. :)

Clutch drama has been resolved, and I put everything back together, and the car started RIGHT up first try! It stalled from not having any fuel, and when I went to restart it, no go. There is power till I turn the key, and then the whole system goes dead like it's shorting out. I have this sick feeling it's the starter solenoid. I paid $10.00 for a new solenoid today, and I think there's something wrong with it.

Rain is the least of my worries right now. Hell it could monsoon and it wouldn't phase me at this point....

Justin

Amy Sue and I are leaving tonight around 6PM from Rockland County New York so we don't have to do a full 12-hour drive on Wednesday. We are about 800 miles from the hotel so we intend to do about 200 miles tonight and stop somewhere along the way. We are coming rain or shine and are looking forward to meeting everyone.

Justin....check the ignition relay as well....rick
rick ingram

The ignition relay going bad would just keep the starter from spinning right? I didn't think it would cause the entire electrical system to "dimm" like there was a massive short in the system.

Hey rick, do you have the picture of a tan fiero seat with tan carpet, or was that someone else?
Justin

No, the ignition relay will allow the engine to spin and sound as though it will fire, but fail when it has gone bad.

I have tan Fiero seats, but no pic of the tan on tan interior.

Been working on the V8 today...putting chrome trim around rear windows and front doors, etc. Got interrupted a couple of times by neighbours/friends because I'm working out in the driveway...but then, one can always use a beer break.

Also had new rotors put on the wife's Mountaineer today...which caused a trip by the liquor store...picked up some Abbott's, some Speckled Hen, some Ruddles, and a couple of "local" micro brews.

See you all tomorrow evening.

Last year, one night we made a pass up there from Tapoco Lodge. I wanted to get some video at night...
When we pulled out of the lodge, it was only drizzling. By the time we past Deals Gap it was raining steady. About a third of the way up was a blanket of fog. Sue was getting pretty nervous, so when I had an opportunity, I turned us back towards the lodge. About the only video I got was of the windshield wipers!

Have fun you guys and keep the shiny side up! Just remember that The Dragon can bite back! When you pull into Deals Gap, go inside and take a look at the pictures people have put up on the bulletin board...
Randy Forbes

Well guys, the weather is probably going to cooperate for us this weekend, and I think I'm going to take a stab at running the car there this weekend. I got the new starter in, and it's definitely "different" then the old starter I had, and I'm not sure if that's good or bad. We'll find out. I'm not having much luck with one of my fuel injection computers, so we'll use the "alternate" computer to get us there, and play around with it some more while there!

Wish me luck getting down there, because I'm not feeling all so great about this right now.....

We're heading out Friday morning in the RV, pulling the MG on trailer....gonna let my new Delorme GPS lead me there so I have no idea when we'll arrive...we're staying at the Tuckaleechee RV Park in Townsend
anthony barnhill

The weather here today is BEAUTIFUL!

Sadly, neither Steve Carrick nor Barney will be here. Steve had another unavoidable commitment, and for reasons beyond our control, we were not able to bring Barney down for him.
Dan Masters

Anthony,

It will be half over by then. I was hoping you would get in sooner. A big part of the enjoyment of the event is getting meet all the "V8 Fraternity Brothers (& Sisters). Unfortunately, I have to leave Friday afternoon. :(
Carl

Well, when wife & I are both teachers....can't get away earlier...will probably get there mid-morning Fri...hope to see you & that car!
anthony barnhill
