MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Which Water Pump?
I am using a 3.5L rover motor, 215 front cover and 215 harmonic balancer and a 300 buick alternator bracket. Which buick short nosed water pump should be used? I think I have read/heard it is from a 231 V6. TIA Bernie

I use rover P6 water pump, I remove the monster OE flange, the shaft is shortened by 1", I use a Mini (true Mini) water pump flange (mg water pump flange is correct also)pressed to the shaft, the pulley is designed by me and ally machined. regards. http://membres.lycos.fr/mgcontact/fileupload/uploads/waterpumppulley.jpg

Most of the Buick V6 pumps work, rear wheel drive appliations, but you will have to do a visual comparison to be sure. The Buick 300 V8 pump works very well, & that is what I use. Compare the pump to front cover gaskets to confirm fit, measure the shaft length from impeller to pulley.

I also run the Buick 300 water pump, aluminum variety. You can check out a page I set up comparing the various pumps available. http://www.et.byu.edu/~jmv/pumps.htm

Jake, thanks for the page. That could come in handy in the future. Joe

Bernie, Another Buick 300 water pump user here. The inlet snout angles down compared to the stock 215 pump.
