Congratulations, Dan!

Great products at reasonable prices. Anyone out there getting ready to tackle re-wiring their car for a V8 conversion or just to upgrade & eliminate problems, you need to seriously consider Dan's products.

I used Hot Rod style wiring kits on 3 cars & I hate to think how many hours I spent adapting to Lucas wipers & turn signals, plus most wires were too long, & some too short. You won't have these problems with Dan's harness.

I have no financial interest, just like to tout a good product.

Dan - good work. My factory car isn't due a second rewire yet but....

Dan - looks good.

Will you be doing a kit for the "factory" B GT V8?

Nigel J S Steward

I have one --a great improvement --as soon as he weather warms its going into my V8 conversion !
Thanks Dan

A friend has a Dan Masters wiring harness in his B and it's excellent. He fitted the power board above the passenger's feet. I intend to buy one for my V8 conversion.

Add me to the list of interested UK V8 owners. Nigel asks if you will be doing a kit for factory V8's or is there any reason why the kit for V8 conversions isn't suitable?

Nigel and Laurie,

The V8 conversion kit is suitable for the factory V8 as well. The biggest difference I see between the two is the function of the "ACC" position of the ignition switch. If I read the factory V8 wiring diagram correctly, the heater fan, WS wipers/washer, and radio are all operable in the ACC position, whereas in the US 4 cylinder models, and my kits, only the radio is operable.

You can download the instruction manual from the web site http://www.advanceautowire.com and evaluate the V8 conversion kit to see if it's compatble with a factory V8.

I highly recommend reading through the appropriate manual before ordering a kit anyway, just to be sure you will be satisfied with the kit, and to get a good feel for the work involved in the installation.

Dan, are all the relays 40 amp or only the Power/ignition relay?

It didn't clarify that in the directions.
Michael S. Domanowski

Michael,

The kits use three different relay types, two are rated at 40 amps, and one (the power/ignition relay)at 50 amps. I use Waytek part numbers 75113, 75102, and 75001. You can read the specs on these at http://order.waytekwire.com/IMAGES/M37/catalog/217_052

Thanks for that. I had already downloaded the pdf manual just before I posted my question.
As far as my RB V8 is concerned you are correct in stating that the ACC position provides power to heater fan, wipers and washers - was using all three on Tuesday while parked up in a motorway service area! Radio/tape player on my car is an aftermarket JVC which has been provided with a permanent live feed anyway.

Thanks Dan. Always wanted to clean up the wiring on Amy's MGB V8...you have the best solution as far as I can see. The price ain't bad either.

Dan, I can only open the main page. I cannot open the info boxes on the left. I'm using acrobat 7. Any suggestions ? Barrie E
Barrie Egerton

Barrie,

What browser are you using? I haven't had any problem opening the info boxes with IE. If you'll tell me which model MG you're interested in, I can send you the direct link to the instruction manual file. The choices are 62-97 MGB, 68-72 MGB, 73-80 MGB or MGBV8 conversions.

Dan, are you making these up in the proper British color coded wires? I notice that you are now refering to AWG sizes. Are you also able to sell components only, so that we may build a DIY setup?
Chris J.

Chris,

Yes, these have the proper British color code wire.

The only components I'm selling individually are the mounting boards, and they are $20 plus postage. Everything else I include in the kits can be bought elswhere, except the wire. To get the wire in the proper colors, I have to buy in minimum lots of 1000 ft, not practical for a DIY (in fact, that's why I got into making the kits - to recover the cost of the wire I had to buy to make a few for myself and some friends. I wound up with over 85,000 ft of wire!).

You can buy British gauge wire in the correct colors from British Wiring ( http://www.britishwiring.com ) by the meter, but it gets to be quite expensive that way if you are doing a complete car. The folks at British Wiring are great folks to deal with, but they have to make a living, and they have to pay someone to pull, cut, and package the wire.
