MG MGB Technical - 12V Battery in the UK

At the risk of being directed abck to the archives (Already been).
Does anyone have a code for a 12V battery which is a straight swap (Except cables of course) into a '70 CB roadster. The archieves mention 063 or 35 as size but many mention cutting flanges and corners etc. I just want one I can 'drop' in

Thanks
(and againapologies for the repeat! Shame we cannot 'Pin' threads so they stay visible if the contain 'solutions)

Bernie

Have a look at the list of current threads.

About six from the bottom is 'conversion to single 12v battery'.

My vote is still for Varta B35
Dave O'Neill2

Whoops! Missed that one as it foes not come up in the archive search!
Doh!

Bosch 630

As the 630 is just over 1.5 times as wide as an MG 6V battery I guess that's a 12V standard not a replacement for a 6V!
Thanks anyway :)

Bernie, get your local supplier to order a Type 002, which is an "identical" size/shape of the 6 Volters, without any cutting or modification. If I can get one here in Ireland, surely you can get one there.
2 years since I switched ( & it's said I am an originality anorak), haven't looked back & solved my hot starting issues.

I'm with David O'Neill, Go for the Varta B35 slots strait in, just put a spacer or a couple of washers under the bracket nuts mine cost £49.95, Four year guarantee excellent starting "UMPH" put it behind the drivers seat with a new earth strap add a cutout switch while you're there, put it in the earth strap, with the key behind the drivers seat using your left hand to operate it.

Short Code B35)

Agree with all the above, I went for a Bosch S4 Type 202, exactly the same size as the Varta and drops straight in. I also fitted a battery cutout switch.
