MG MGB Technical - 3-Speed Blower Motor

Several weeks ago, there was some discussion here about installation of a Fiero heater blower motor, with a 3-speed switch. Thanks to Larry Hallenger's excellent info, I decided to undertake this effort and to provide a write-up on how it's done.

I read with great interest your heater modification. I wonder if you could e-mail me with the main points incluuding wiring diagram; I have tried down loading from the original web site but I have had problems - probably the age of this computer. Thanks

Clayton heaters make three speed heaters for B's and a three speed control switch for it(rotary type)I fitted in place of the rheostat. It was a swine to fit the heater bolts at the front of the unit due to the larger size!!!

LOL! Leland, it's funny you say that. It's going to be in the 70's here in Monterey this weekend, and up to 81 or so over near Sacramento.

Larry - thanks! You were definitely the inspiration for this one. I would've been smarter to check out the Clayton Heaters site, but I did this for the fun of it. Sometimes "fun" and "smart" don't mean the same thing....

Hey, it was 19 degrees at my house for a few nights this winter near Los Angeles. We do need heaters on occasion! But in all honesty it very rarely gets below 30 unless you live in the local mountains.

Best description is to say that "low" is a gentle breeze, "medium" is pretty much like my old, one-speed fan and "high" is very fast.
