MG MGB Technical - Brake Heatshield?

The abandoned project continues...Moss cataqlog page 57, part number 33. Where the heck does it go? Thanks, Tom TC 2850

Paper catalogue? They change. What's the part number?

Tom,

Assume you are talking about Moss part number 182-650 since it is on my page 57 and is part ID 33. They have it labeled as a heat shield although I am not sure why. I do not belive that any brake lines pass through that area or why it is pictured with such. But to answer your question, it mounts with the same bolts that mount your heater box on the front edge. Do not think that you find this piece on every year car but on the cars that you find it on it will sometimes have a fuel line attached to the one tab that sticks up. Also helps to protect(?) wires going behind the motor from one side to the other.

Hey Group, first, sorry for the page and part description of the "heat shield." Yes Fred, it is part number (moss) 182-650. Thank you so much for the solution to the mystery part location. I certainly scratched my head on this one. I also looked at 2 other MGB's and they did not have this part. I guess it is more of a wire/tubing "channel?"
Thanks and regars, Tom
Tom

It is indeed a heat shield and probably helps at least a little. I tend to think of it as more of a gutter for the lines and wiring that run thru it across the top of the firewall shelf in front of the heater.

My roadster has one but the V8 doesn't, and the engine in that is much further back and gets much hotter!
