MG MGB Technical - brake problems

hi guys, i glanced at my brake disc and noticed these drooves. Anyone have any idea as to what may have caused this? there supposed to be high performance brakes but ive only had them 2 years and only about 6 thousand miles if that. the other side of the disc is ok, just the outside, same on the passenger side.

and heres the pad

Looks like uneven clamping pressure from the caliper. Perhaps the fluid crossover channels are blocked or the inside pistons/seals are stuck/not moving freely.

Looks more than that to me. Uneven clamping pressure would give tapered wear to the pad. Whilst there *does* seem to be more surface in use closer to the spindle there are distinct wear and no wear rings on the outer half of the disc as well as distinct grooving on the inner half. That points more to pad contamination to me.

Is that pad off that side of that disc? It's not easy to match up the two wear patterns.

it is the same pad yes, when you place it on the disc it fits into the grooves. Its really bizzare, the pad looks like the outa part has been damaged as it has craters in the outer section, the inner looks normal. i spent a fortune on this "high performance" kit and its done this.

I've not this set-up, but I do run grooved discs and under breking there is definitely a thud-thud-thud sound as the grooves hit the fron of the pad - that's bound to be causing pad wear. With holes, the pad wear is going to be more localised?

If it's just the outside on bith wheels, then maybe something to do with corrosion around the edges of the holes?

6,000 miles you say? What pads are you using? I got through a set of M171s in way less than that, and the shedloads dust thrown up by the Greenstuff replacements must be coming from somewhere too!
