MG MGB Technical - capillary pipe routing

Gents,

I need your help on a small topic: does someone have a clear photo that shows, how the capillary tube to the temp gauge is routed (and fixed) in the engine bay of an early MGB??
Thanks in advance

The B is resting in the garage at the moment but the tube on mine follows the main wiring harness for much of its path before going through the firewall. RAY

I am interesting in the routing from the sensor in the head to the bulkhead. On some photos the pipe is close to the head but I don´t have photos where I can clearly see how the pipe is running.

Go to my website and look under the left hand headings for the pipe routings.

Love what you did with your car! Can you tell me what the paint colour is for the engine. Its the red tint I have been looking for. Thanks

The pipe should exit the head fitting with a P turn about 2 inches in dia to take it back towards the head where it follows the head gasket line to the number plate where it dips down under the plate boss and runs level back under the heater tap where it is clipped to a small plate secured under the lower valve bolt. It runs straight back from there into a movement absorbing coil about 4 inches in diameter before running across the bulkhead shelf and being fixed in a P clip before going through the grommet on the shelf - there is a further P clip on the inside of the bulkhead.

Hats off on that one. Most impressive to take one in that shape and bring it back to to such a beautiful car.

I've got mine clipped closer to the sender, using a tapped hole originally intended for the dynamo, I think. It does need to be clipped somewhere along the crankcase otherwise as the pipe flaps up and down it stresses the connection at the sender which will eventually fracture.
