MG MGB Technical - Conv top boot question
I have purchased a top cover for my 73 MGB. The cover has two elastic straps that hang down into the interior of the car with lift-the-dot fasteners at the ends. Can someone tell me where the staps are supposed to attach? |

There should be a snap stud near the wheel well about 5 inches above the rear shelf on each side for attaching the straps. I can post a photo if you need it. Clifton |

Bob, My first response isn't correct for the straps with lift the dot fasteners. The studs for these starps should be on the rear bulkhead near the bottom behind the battery tray cover. My first response was for smaller snap type straps on each side. Clifton |

Bob, Along with others that I know no-one has had a satisfactory answer to where these things should have originally fitted. On the later models there does not seem to be any place and, from what I understand there isn't anywhere on the older ones. I fitted male parts to the top of the parcel/battery shelf. Has anybody got an original one and does it have these straps? Bob |

I've seen a few instalations that might be factory but never on the parcl/battery shelf. RIC |

from what i can gather they should be put onto the same studs which are used when you use your full tonneau cover as a hood cover which fix to the front of the battery box section behind the seats ste |

Mine's original. There should be two sets of elastic straps: There are short straps on the side that connect to the side walls of the cockpit behind the seats and under the hinge for the convertibe top frame. They use snap fasteners. You can't really see these when the cover is in place. The longer straps are at the corners of the front flap of the cover. They are lift the dot fasteneres that connect to posts that are on the front of the shelf in which the batteries are located. They are pointing at the back of the seats. Hope that helps. Dan |

Thanks to all! I know where to look now. I suspect there are holes underneath the new carpeting where the post used to be. I'm putting the car on jackstands this weekend and see if I can't locate them. Best regards to all BOB |
