MG MGB Technical - Decal location

Does anyone have any exact details of where to mount the decals and chassis plate on a 1971 car?

Thanks

The chassis number plate was in front of the radiator mounting panel, on the left-hand side as you look at the front, attached to the inner wing, mounted vertically, with pop-rivets from 1970 (Clausager).

For decals the kits seem to vary between suppliers.

Do you mean body number plate or VIN plate?
Chris at Octarine Services

I meant chassis plate, commision number plate, negative earth sticker and anything else that was on the slam panel.

Paul has the position of the chassis number plate correct according to Clausager - on the right hand inner wing in front of the radiator diaphragm, so it is on the left side when viewed from the front. I had a 1971 car myself many years ago and I seem to think the plate was vertically mounted, but don't quote me on that.

Again, according to Clausager the commission plate and negative earth plates were fitted one above the other on the right side of the slam panel (viewed from the front) next to the staple that holds the safety catch. I have attached a photo of the picture from his book "Original MGB". I hope I haven't infringed his copyright! All I can say is if you haven't got this book, try and find a copy. It is a mine of detailed information.

Yes, vertical, attached also from Clausager. Although this is a very early car, and later plates were riveted and had different screen-printing, the indications are that they were always here until the final year when the larger VIN plate was also on the slam panel.
