MG MGB Technical - door adjustment

hello, can any one tell me how to adjust the passenger door, its dropped a little damaging the paintwork and door thanks
daz

I have found that if you latch the door and then tighten the six bolts that fasten the dooe to the hinges that works. Also there are some archives that address this.

how can you tighten the six bolts with the door shut ,do you mean the six large screws on the pillar
daz

Hi Daz

I took off the latch, loosened the screws that hold the door to the hinge. I also took off the wheel well panel and loosened the bolts that hold the hinge to the piller. Then, with the door closed (I used a little tape to keep it shut) I used tapered wooden shims to get the gaps about equal. Tighten the screws, tighten the bolts and reinstall the latch. You may need to adjust the latch again also.

You need to take the interior door panel off to access th 6 screws.
Loosen 4 then if it has dropped at the back slightly loosen the tight top screw then pull the door up a bit then tighten again.
CAREFULLY close the door making sure it doesnt touch at the front now.
If its OK to shut but the waste line is wrong you may havr to loosen the B post lock plate and re-adjust it to suit.
Keep doing this until you are happy then tighten all 6 screws again and put you door card back on.
