MG MGB Technical - Door window mechanism install

I have remove all the windows on my 79 MGB for painting.

Now I am getting ready to reinstall the door windows, their mechanisms, the rails and so on.

Also I have to install the windshield. I have read that the new seal is hard to install.

Can anyone give me some tips before I start? I have read that the mechanisms can be hard to install and need some adjustment.

Any advise would be appreciated

Thanks
Bob

All I would say is check that when you put the front rail back in, as it is part of the front quarterlight, check your door closes before securing it. Then rear rail, then slip winder mechanism in, dont fix anything to the door too tightly yet though, then slip the glass in from the top - easier to remove the sealing rubber strip to do this. Getting the window apart from the mechanism can be hard, it just slides in but can be tight - I assume you have already done this as its stripped.

That job is a real fiddle, and its a case of just being relaxed when getting it all inside then manipulating it until it all goes together.

Also, fit your door locks first, they are hard to get to once the windows are in place.

I also found that my door sagged a little bit once the weight was back in, mind you my door were removed. So if you align them without the weight make sure you have enough room to adjust them back up afterwards.

I wrote up putting the regulators/glass back in last year. If u cant find it in the archives I kept a copy as .txt. It's easy when you do it in the right sequence.

This is just what I was looking for.

I will be installing them next weekend.

Hope it works OK for you, it took me days to get to this point, using this I could do it 15 minutes now.
