MG MGB Technical - electronic distributer

Have a 1974 MGB with standard distributor (45D4) and negative ground.
Would like to replace the standard distributor with an electronic distributor.
Has anyone had any bad experiences after switching to an electronic distributor?

You talking an electonic points system or a full electronic distributor (non-mechanical). I saw a B in Nicaragua that had a non-mechanical electronic distributor fitted to it. Supposedly worked fine.

I"ve fitted 123 tune distributors to two 1950 stage two engines and one to a supercharged 1800. They are all a great success. Best to spend a little time on a dyno to set them up, (with a laptop) Highly recommend them.

I'm running a Davis Unified Ignition System on my '67 supercharged 1860 B engine. After 10 years of service, it has been flawless and maintenance free. RAY

As commented on a previous thread i changed to a "123" from original distributor in a 1980 roadster which i have had from new in the spring of last year having had problems with badly made points (tried 3 all with the same part number). Car starts better, runs as if 10% more power and achieve original handbook mpg at 75 MPH.Once installed used timing light to set up precisely.I know that many prefer to go with the old manual points set up either for originality or the perceived comfort that you can probably fix a breakdown issue on the side of the road.
However we all seem to trust our modern everyday cars which of course have electronics throughout!
123 is expensive (circa £300 in UK ),but it looks original and easy to fit. i have hung on to my old distributor just in case i ever sold the car....... (unlikely having had it for 32 years).

I found this article on the web about converting a Triumph over to a megajolt fully electronic ignition system. (NO Distributor at all. That has got to give a little increase just due to one less mechanical system for the engine to drive.
