MG MGB Technical - Engine transplant

Has anyone out there herd or know if it's possible to fit a Cosworth engine & box out of a UK spec Ford Sierra into a 77 MGB any helr would be great.
Mike

Mike, search the archives on the V8 conversions group. I'm sure I've seen some talk of it over there.

Mike,

There is a little info at http://www.kewengineering.co.uk/upgrades4mgs/other_engines.htm
It has been done, but only once as far as I know.

If you are looking for a novel transplant consider a T series turbo. You can buy a Rover 620 Ti for anything from £200 on eBay. For that you get an engine that is a decendent from the B series and puts out 200BHP with the Turbo fitted. Fitting it is very similar to fitting an O series and it can be mated to a LT77 5 speed box using some parts from an old Sherpa Van (of all places!).

Hi Mike

Yes it has been done running with a Sierra 2WD box. From what I understand it was a hell of a lot of work and is pretty terrifying to drive, especially in the wet due to the lag, but one hell of a fast car.
If you want any info on it, call Tim Fenna at Frontline on 01225 852777 as he was involved in the conversion

If you want something a little easier a 240BHP K series conversion is another easy way to get the power and reduce the weight! If you want any info on this, just give me a buzz
