MG MGB Technical - Front spring hanger replacement

I need some guidance on the replacement of the front spring hanger on a 1966 GT.
What’s the best method of insuring the accurate alignment of the new hanger, I planned to remove the rear axle and both sets of springs.
Thanks

Take a lot of measurements!

Other than that you would have to fabricate a jig that bolts to each of the spring mounting points, although I suppose you could get away with dropping plumb lines down from each of them onto a board, which is effectively how the alignments are shown in the workshop manual.

Gentlemen, I do not understand! There is no adjustment that can be 'user controlled '. When I replaced the springs on my GT, yes it was a devil of a job as the front 'eye bolts' had sezied! I had to cut the front old spring eye, to get at the bush, and ultimately cut this also. I had heard horror stories from people whom put the suspesion back together, and found the handling gone crap. I do not know if I was lucky or whether everything lined up ok, but the handling is better than ever. But I suppose if one measures, and equalises distances in placement ( but the limit must be the bolt holes. ) Then this must be the level of adjustment? Or is there something I have missed? Mike

Mike, I little misunderstanding. I need to replace the front mounting bracket due to corrosion. It’s very strange the sills and floors have been replaced but unfortunately not the spring hanger.
We are building the car as a road rally car and would like to keep it FIA compliant. We need to carful to insure that any repair work is not conceived as strengthen/ reinforcing of the suspension mounts.
We are fabricating a jig to hold the repair section. The the engine / box / rear axle will be removed. The body shell will be rotated to allow access for the work .
If someone could tell me how to post photos Hint Hint!

Posting photos is really easy. Your photo should be a JPEG, that is it should end with .jpg and it must be less than 1 Mb in size, ideally it wants to be about 200 Kb. The photos that come out of most digital cameras are already JPEGs but are too large to be posted. You need to shrink them. I use a piece of free software called Irfanview which you download from the internet from http://www.irfanview.com/

Open your photo in Irfanview, go to the Image menu and select Resize. The box will show you the size of your photo in pixels, but you can change this to inches. Make the largest measurement 8 inches. The other measurement will shrink automatically. Also in that box is the DPI (dots per inch) value for your photo. If it is larger than 100, change it to 72. This is ideal for viewing on a computer screen.

Go to the File menu and select Save As and save your smaller photo under a different name. This one should be the right size for uploading here. Press the Upload button below the text box and browse for your new shrunken photo. Easy.

Windows XP Powertoys includes a resizer which seems to install itself to picture directories so it can be activated by right-clicking on a photo. Photoshop also allows you to resize, as well as crop and fiddle with light levels and exposure to get good clarity of what you are trying to show.
